Qadir Bux Bedal Library
Shikarpur once called Paris of SIndh, has remained centre of eductaion, trade and culture.
It has many historical places.
The Qadir Bux Bedal Library Shikarpur (Bedal Library ) is owned by Department of Culture and Tourism, Sindh of Government.
Established in 1883, earlier it was known as Jagan nas Library, the Hindu Sindhi who had donated his property to library. Later it was renamed as
The Library has five halls, four rooms. Each hall can accommodate over 100 students.
Annual Budget of the libarary is Rs 0.8 million, employing 24 persons.
At present library has 17, 000 books.
New books worth Rs 0.5 million were purchased in 2008-09
Generator has been approved twice but not delivered to this library by the culture department.
Culture Department handed over generators to libraries in Larkana, Khairpur and Hyderabad but oil was not provided to these, so generators laying there without use.
Recent Construction at Library: Rs 4 million were spent on constructions of new building.
Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh gave Rs 5 lacs from his MPA funds for additional room/hall construction. Rs 8 lacs funding comes from TMA Shikarpur. On average 300 to 500 students visit library daily, it also has Children section,
